My passion is motorcycles, and I teach beginner riders for a living, but I need a truck too so I saved up and got a 2nd gen Tacoma, base model, as plain as can be. It's even white.
I abhor power-anything. I'm kind of OK with stock-ish and don't plan any major engine or suspension modifications. Don't off-road if I can help it. I love to modify my old street bikes (Japanese, no cruisers) and I'm not afraid to pull and rebuild a set of carburetors, but I just want reliable and fun when it comes to this Tacoma that I've wanted for years and years. (I was in a Ford Ranger 2.5, can you blame me? Spent more time wrenching on that truck than driving it the last couple years.)
I have a few questions to ask, and I'll do that in the appropriate sub forum. Forgive me if I sound clueless. I learn fast, and bloody knuckles don't scare me. Just keep the damned software away!

    Welcome aboard Jenn!

If you ever decide you want to put one of your bikes in the bed of your truck, recommend reading up on reinforcing (or replacing) the tailgate's inside panel. The stock cover can't take a lot of weight, but it's easy to replace with something a lot more sturdy.

Wow, thanks for the heads up on the tailgate. I noticed it was really lightweight compared to the Ford and wondered if it would bend with a motorcycle tire on it .

My main ride, very very basic and plain old air cooled predecessor of the GSXR... Bandit 1200. Cheap, reliable, torque for days....

The one in the avatar is my touring rig, big old ugly Concours 1000. I've taken it all over the country.

Chain needs REPLACING. I got the bike in a terrible state of neglect not long ago. The other side is nothing but road rash. New chain and sprockets are already in hand, waiting to be put on. I don't think this thing was ever oiled.
There's plenty of oil leaking from the old gaskets, if I could get it thick enough it might get blown back onto the chain, lol....I've had five Bandits that I should never have sold, I stole this one for $800. Keeping it.

Thanks for the link for the tailgate.
I gotta get some pics for y'all, there are aftermarket wheels on it (XD series is what they say) and I want to know if they're set out an inch or so from stock. Are the tires supposed to be setting wider than the fender well?

I bought plenty of their photos, and I ALWAYS buy my souvenirs for friends from them. I don't even remember when that photo was taken...I get up to Deal's Gap pretty often. You're right, those are good people just trying to make a living in a very poor part of the country. We riders and drivers have to remember that WE are the strangers in their area, and to be respectful for the residents. Killboy gets great shots. killboy bandit.jpg
