    Decided to try to wait on the steering rack replacement and stumbled on this power steering pump rebuild thread, figured for $20 it'd be worth it.

    Well maybe that's at least part of my problem
    Minimum spec on the power steering "pressure return?" spring is 36.9mm, new measures 38mm, old one measures 30mm.

    Looks like the new in spec flow control spring is too good. After several tests the pump is shot, can't build enough pressure. So it's back together with the old spring(at least I have some steering) and ordered a Delco 36p1009 reman from Amazon. Now we wait... Because it's temp out of stock

    Well putting the pump back together with the old spring was better but still worse than before. Ordered a pump from Amazon (temp OOS) which I'm still waiting for.. And ordered one from LKQ which just showed up, pumps beautifully, and after dropping in an inline filter I have glorious power steering again! If the Amazon one shows up I'll send the crapped one off for Core charge and have a backup!
