Hey so i'm new to the site today, a long time 4runner owner with never a problem.
I purchased a 2015 Tacoma with 12,000 miles on it one year ago. I just started having transmission range sensor problems. I replaced. The problem still exists. It's in need inspection this month. any help would be awesome.
    Thanks, Snyderman

Is there a specific code that it is throwing?
If so, can you tell us the actual number of the code?
It will likely start with a P.

By "transmission range sensor" I'll assume you mean the Park Neutral Safety Switch on the passenger side of the transmission that indicates what gear you have selected by the automatic shifter handle.

When you replaced it did you set the switch alignment properly?
Did it indicate properly when you installed it?

The wire harness could be defective or damaged. Have you inspected the harness?

    Alignment procedure:

The code that it's putting out is p0507. My wire harness looks to be in good condition. I'm gonna try the adjustment this morning. Work in progress. Thanks for the input, keep it coming

That is incorrect, there is no P0507 Code. What you have is a P0705 - Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction.

This is what triggers the code:

Either of the following conditions is met:

    (a) Any 2 or more of the following signals are ON simultaneously. (2-trip detection logic)

•Park/neutral position switch input signal is ON
    •R input signal is ON
    •D input signal is ON
    •2 input signal is ON

    (b) Any 2 or more of the following signals are ON simultaneously. (2-trip detection logic)

•Park/neutral position switch input signal is ON
    •R input signal is ON
    •3 input signal is ON
    •L input signal is ON

    Common Trouble Areas:

•Open or short in park / neutral position switch circuit
    •Park/neutral position switch
    •ECM

I have the same code but I recognize that when I put it in reverse. The reverse light R is not lighting up in dashboard. Do I need sensor replaced or would this be something else?
