Ran into a snag. Broke a u-bolt. So cut the other off and will have new ones made Monday. Trying to decide if I should take one of the overloads from the old spring back and use it as a spacer. Old pack is the old Dakar pack with the Dakar add a leaf the factory Tacoma overload which is 1/2" and a cut down tundra overload that is 3/4". The shocks I had custom built for this setup so I have to be careful of pack thickness. I have 3" of shock shaft left when I touch my Timbren. So with Timbren squish I feel like I have 1.5" of pack thickness to play with.

I have the icon stage two and was wondering if I got the rxt leafs would I be ok with those shocks? Also does anyone add the icon mini pack to the rxt leafs? Or is unnecessary?

Just got mine finished up today. Went with option 3 paired up with the Pro Bilstein kit.

Before/after gained ~6” in the back. More that I was expecting, but I think my stock suspension was shot.

Ummm 6” is a bit excessive..

Edit: i guess if your stock springs had sagged out.. it might be right

Normal lift is 2.625" of lift on option 3 with no weight in the bed.... 6" seems pretty excessive. Did you drive it around at all to see where it settled?

Just got back from an alignment and driving around for a bit.

I’ll go out and measure it again tonight.

I did end up getting my springs all on and I ended up 1" lower than what I started with. But that was with all the extra spacers(overloads) bolted into the pack. So all said and done, I am at 25.5" from center of hub to fender, with no flares. Expecting at least 1/2" of settling. So to keep the stance I want I am going to lower the front an inch also. Which is probably needed since I measure 24" up front from center of hub to fender with no flares. I do also have 5/8" more exposed thread on the drivers side than the passenger side for the taco lean. Going to maybe relieve a little of that difference also. But the RXT's ride so much more smoother than the old OME's. And I can now droop to the full 29.5" of shock that I have. Going to flex it out and stuff the rear tonight to see how close I come to bottoming the shock out.

For what it’s worth i just went from option 1 to option 2 (i swapped the extra leaf) the ride is noticeably stiffer in the rear unloaded. I’m not sure if the new leaf needs to break in some but it feels pretty stiff. Most of the time I ride pretty empty but i do carry heavy loads from time to time. I loaded the bed on option 1 and had some significant sagging. Not sure if I’m going to keep it on option 2 since I’m empty from my day to day or go back to option 1.

How has this setup worked out for you? I just ordered the TRD pro kit and this leaf pack.

Working great. I can’t speak to the stiffness of the rear leaf pack because I have nothing to compare it to, but I have no problems with it. I wouldn’t consider option 2 at this point as 3 is just fine. I do have a topper and rack on it, but driving around with an empty bed feels fine.

I went option 3 because of the topper and rack, but also because I occasionally tow a small camper (100’ish tongue weight) and the bed loaded up with lord knows how much weight.

I’ve had a couple hundred pounds of shit back there and it doesn’t even flinch.

Thanks for the report! I think I’ll do the same. I run an ARE MX with rack on top plus a platform and gear inside and usually mountain bikes hanging off the back. I’m really looking forward to getting off the bump stops!

I ended up with about 4 inches of lift in the rear on Option 3. I have a decent amount of shudder between 5-15 MPH. Tried 1/2 inch carrier bearing spacers, and shims... neither really helped. I am going to switch to 3/8 in spacers to see if i can reduce the shudder.

In hind sight, I should have went with Option 1. I still cant get over the amount of lift I got with Option 3 - definitely more than 2.65 inches.

It is definitely stiffer than stock, but a good ride nonetheless. Love the look, but dislike the shutter. IMG_6834.jpg

You will also need to get creative with emergency brake lines. They may catch or rub on the spring clamps. I zip tied some hose protector and in the rub areas - seems like a good fix for now. You may need to either flip or trim the spring clamp bolt nearest the fuel cell, as you could have some clearance issues. I was okay with my set-up.

I got over 4 inches on option 3. By the time I added a shim to help with the shudder, I am closer to 4.75 inches.

Does anyone know the compressed and extended lengths of the Icon RTX Omega Bypass shocks?

@SDHQ OFFROAD i purchased my RXT setup from you guys recently and was hoping to keep my lift around 2-3inch to avoid vibration issues. Like another person here, I got 5 inches in lift in the rear in option two (with approx 400-500lbs constant in the rear). It settled about 3/4 of an inch, and I’ve pulled everything apart, repacked the springs to make sure I didn’t put the aal in backwards, and retorqued everything. It’s still way more of a raise than I wanted which has led to my newest enemy: vibrations.

I absolutely love the suspension over stock and have been looking into adjusting the drive train geometry to keep it. However, in reading, it seems like it’s a cv bushing issue.
Vibrations are very subtle around 20-45mph (mostly in the 40 range), but felt/percieved mostly everywhere. Wheel, pedals. floorboards. I almost would say I was imagining it and that my truck always drove like that, but it goes away immediately in 4Hi.
Anyways, you guys are my go to shop. Have you installed many ECGS bushings and do you find they help more than just shims?
