Finally in the last two weeks the price of beef spiked and I've been thinking on how you say like 50+ COVID cases were in your place. These beef price spikes are all the work of COVID? Or is it just people taking advantage of crap and saying there's shortages? I figure you're not the one in the company setting prices so I hope I'm not offending you. Again, I assume its legit shortage due to labor issues on team downtime.

But anyway... I'm glad I'm a hunter with a freezer full of meat!

 

It's almost entirely the work of COVID. There was a production (note: there's plenty of cows, we just can't turn them into meat fast enough) shortage for a while due to major plants being closed, but that caused panic buying which caused prices to spike beyond what you'd expect from the shortage.

On an unrelated note no one at the company sets the prices. Everything is based on commodity price. We actually get told what the prices are for what products day to day. While you guys might be seeing ground beef up by $2-3/pound from last year, for us it's only up around $.75/pound.

Also if you can offend someone that works in this industry, they won't be in the industry long. We're a bunch of the weirdest assholes around. It's a rough industry.

I had some computer stuff to do but knocked it out already. Setting up ladder to repair some trim and making the kid help with landscaping.

 

I applied some weed killer, cleaned up...a very little bit...in the garage and heading out to wash some cars!

That is good and bad in one sentence. It would be cool to have the only 3rd gen you made but sad that you are winding down.
