I am surprised you all have not been schooled in filters we should use!?

The Toyota factory oil filter is the one and only... I don't think Fram was designed for the upside-down application. Does it have the check valve?

    One more point,
If you are going to change the oil at 5K then why are you buying 15K oil?

Wow nobody said the A word. I guess I’ll say it. Change it every 10K with 5K factory filter changes till my stash of filters runs out.

Then I’ll go on Tues! Thanks for not ripping on my thread too hard, I’m a brand new member and was my first post. I apologize for the redundancy. Thanks for all the helpful advice.

I think the moral of the story is to just "do it." Keep up with all routine servicing, no matter what you use. I was using Mobile One, but I'm switching to a less expensive alternative, Costco's Kirkland synthetic oil. At $12.50/5 quarts, it's about as cheap as "dino juice."

This thread timing is convenient... For those that use Toyota filters, where do you source them? Just the local dealer parts counter or is there an online source that is worth using?

Their vodka and bourbon is good stuff, so I bet the oil is also. Only half joking.

No worries, no need to apologize. Some here will go wild as questions about oil and filters always seem to be posted. But l get it, you want to do what's best for your truck. I felt the same way when l bought my Tacoma. I've never owned a Toyota one prior to Dec 2017, so it was a learning experience for me as well.
Hell, I'm still on here learning something new everyday.

Even though some topics keep coming up. I still read through them to see what l can learn that's new. Because l just never know when some new I formation will get posted.

How about some pics of your Tacoma?

I typically order from Toyota dealers selling on Amazon. But make sure the price is right...you might be able to find better deals at your local Toyota dealer when they have sales.

Hey OP welcome to TW. I don’t think people were ripping you so much as they were ripping the topic. Being new you wouldn’t know but there is a similar oil topic at least once a week and always the same reply’s and information and there have been hundreds of oil threads. So stay with us, there’s a lot of good information here and a lot of knowledgeable people.
