That plug is a good 75ft from where the trailer will be.

Dont see why that would be an issue without the brakes. just make sure you wire everything properly.

I have just never wired anything other than 4-pin for the trailer.

I just didn't know if it was ok to leave the "brake" wire not hooked up. That was my only question. I'm just not sure the camp trailer will be heavy enough to justify brakes, but wanted it wired for them just in case.

Just don't leave them exposed. Otherwise zap, and possibly a couple fuses.

I figured I could just not hook up the wire at the box. Or hook up the wire at the box and seal off the end of the wire where it would connect to the brakes. I'll see how it goes once I run the wires.

Could work. If it's not got power at all.

the cleanest way is don't cut back the casing on the wires and get you some heat shrink. Slide a piece long enough to cover the ends and fold over, then use another small piece to slide over the whole bundle and apply heat.

Should create a nice tight seal, for added peace of mind you can then wrap it in black tape.

Or you can de pin the cable, it's a pain in the ass, but I've done it before. I repinned a Honda trailer plug onto my toyota plug, might be able to do the flip with the male end.

Edit: on examination of the cable, that isn't possible. Just don't wire it inside the box, but make sure it won't contact the rest of the wires.

I think what I may do is run the blue wire(the elec brake wire) like I would if I had brakes, then just seal it up and leave it. That way if I ever get brakes, it's already there.

I'll have plenty of time. I still can't get the axle guy to send me an invoice. I have sent 2 emails and even talked to him on the phone.

The frame won't be ready until July, but with there being a 3 to 5 week wait time on the axle per the owner...…... I would like to go ahead and get it started :D
I'll call again this Friday while I'm off and try to get it taken care of.

At this point, would it be faster to find a junkyard and pull one out of a front end collision taco?
