I need to wire up a dome light in a used topper I recently got and was wondering what location everyone is getting the hot-wire from? Does most just run a wire to the battery? Thanks.

    Reserected from the dead.
Led Led lights use so little juice, just wire up a 9 volt battery. It will run the lights a long time. Led lights don't care about voltage, just polarity.

Yeah, but the topper has a light already installed, and just needs a 12V wire.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
I tapped mine into the tailight. Lights have to be on for it to work but I rarely need the light in the topper at night when the truck isn't running.
