Jane the GX470 (SOLD it already lol)

So being that the Tacoma is just about built up i decided i wanted to grab something a little different to putt around in when i wasnt wheeling/camping/traveling.

I searched for LX470/LC's but the Land Cruiser Tax for what you were getting compared to the 2003+ GX was too big to ignore. Plus i got a pretty solid deal on this one so Here it goes.

She's solid mechanically but there's some areas that need attention (wheels are pitted, some chipping paint, cracked dash) but that's all things i aint concerned too much about at the moment.

Currently how it stands





Only real plans for the rig is
-Window Tint up front
-Retrofit the headlights (stock halogen bulbs coming from my retrofitted tacoma is absolute garbage lol)
-Debadge
-Maybe do some DIY paint repair (got some chipping/ oxidized paint in some areas)
-Wheels (GX470 wheels are notorious for chipping, mine are trashed already lol)

Gonna really try super hard to keep this pretty much a Maint. Log and mild appearance thread to keep things civil on my bank account

 

Yesterday i added LED lights to both the exterior running board lights/Interior Dome lights and the Interior door light bulbs

Today i added the

$167 BT45-TOY Bluetooth Phone & Music Interface, Black

BT45-TOY adapter so i could keep the stock non-nav radio look nice and clean and add bluetooth functionality at the same time thanks to the Wife for the anniversary present

Went outside and took some photos of the LED lights that i added to every possible place lol.
The improvements are noice and much better than the halogens that's been in the last 17 years of this girls life.

next thing ya know, im 20K deep in a build that was supposed to just have a toolbox and a ipod radio adapter (see tacoma build lol)

 

I'm totally with ya'! I'm scratching together a build thread now and am realizing all the time/work/money that goes into a truck. I do enjoy every bit of it, though!

 

Im gonna try to enjoy having a stock vehicle. Driving and not hearing any road noise, creaks and rattles is pretty nice lol.

The journey is what it's all about. I like having a new platform i know really nothing about besides the engine and learning all about it like the 2nd (best gen) gen tacoma

Yeah man, that little accent brings the interior together nicely. Im pretty happy with the purchase so far

Im actually just repainting the stock wheels. Experimenting with the spare now. It's all done besides waiting on the clear to dry. I think painting is going to be the play. I actually kinda wanna add airbags back to the rig. I didnt know they swapped them for the springs until the last minute. The price was too good for the rig to walk away.

 

Just get some Firestone airbags that go in the middle of the springs. Way better than factory airbags.
