I left town for two months with instructions for my girlfriend to take the Tacoma out for a spin once a week. No dice. Came home and the truck was dead, but no big deal it still had the factory battery on it and I was looking to upgrade to AGM anyway. It was dead dead dead. No lights, nothing, couldn't open it with the FOB (had to use the key), nothing with the key in the ignition. I manually locked it up, and went to pick up the new AGM yesterday evening.

This morning I woke up early, opened the door of the truck with the key, opened hood, disconnected everything and cleaned the cables with a wire brush (they had 'medium' corrosion), installed the new battery and as soon as I got the positive cable on the alarm went off - lights and horn. I don't think this thing has an aftermarket alarm FYI but could be wrong (bought it used). I used the FOB to stop the alarm by clicking unlock, put the key in the ignition and it started right up. I drove about ten miles (Some on the highway). I was pretty happy thinking I got my truck back. I got home, parked it.

Later in the day I came back to it to install Yakima bars on my cap tracks. Don't think I did much else but unlock the vehicle in case I needed in, used the FOB to do it. No issues this time. Didn't try and start it.

Decided to go buy a lawn mower - truck won't start. Everything lights up, I can hear whatever is actuating when you get to the on position (fuel pump maybe?), turn the key and one big click. Nothing happens, doesn't start, no other noises. Everything that is in the car that got turned on stays on until I put the key back to off, in other words when I tried to turn it over the whole car didn't have an electrical seizure and reset.

Rechecked all connections, rewirebrushed all cables including the ground to the frame, scuffed up the battery terminal posts a bit. Reprogrammed my N2 Designs remote starter, took the remote starter out of the loop, tried disconnecting and reconnecting battery again, reprogrammed N2 again, checked voltage at terminal posts (13.1v), tried the clutch cancel button. STILL nothing. Checked the fuse box, ensured that all the relays are appropriately seated.

Called my dad he says maybe your cables are corroded/cracked beyond where they connect at the terminal posts, unwrap the electric tape and see if they are bad. He thought maybe it worked when I first started it and as everything got warmed up and moved around something cracked. I kinda doubt this but I checked, and yea there is minimal corrosion on a few segments so I cleaned those up. Nothing.

I also can't get the usual confirmatory light flash from the truck from the N2 designs remote start module that lets you know when you attempt a remote start that it's gonna work or whether it wasn't set right the last time it was parked.

I really don't want to bring it anywhere, and have thought about checking the solenoid and starter but I am finding it hard to believe it could be those because it started right up at one point but now it's not.

Here is what I have come up with so far that it could be:
*Shitty battery cables that may need to be replaced
    *Solenoid has lost contacts
    *Starter is bad
*Manufacturer alarm has disabled the vehicle from starting
*N2 remote start module is fucking things up somehow, despite disconnecting the power and most of the cables it is still spliced into my clutch cancel switch or TPMS wire I can't remember which.
*Something related to my messing with OVTune or Techstream and now the ECU is confused and/or fucked

My truck: 2016 TRD Sport v6 6MT, OVTuned, N2 designs remote starter, Autocraft AGM battery (new), no additional battery or power connections at this time.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure about Tacomas but I know aftermarket alarms/starters in Rangers were notorious for fucking with the fuel solenoid fuses. Most people suggested removing the starter/alarm entirely to start anew. I had a Ranger and had my remote starter torn out because even after replacing the battery it wouldn't start.

Disconnect the battery for 30 minutes. Then try again. Sometimes that’ll fix strange issues

If there’s an issue with the immobilizer, the truck will crank but never start. Since it sounds like nothing is happening, it’s likely not that

I’d also look for signs of rodents. If it’s been sitting for 2+ months, I wouldn’t be surprised if something made a nest or had a snack

I'll disconnect it in the morning and let it sit, keeping my fingers crossed. I'll also check for evidence of rodents but I've looked around that engine compartment pretty thoroughly at this point and haven't seen anything yet. Thanks for the help!

fixed it. left it disconnected for about an hour. Came back and reconnected without opening the doors (left the hood slightly ajar). Let the truck do its thing for a second, opened the doors to get it started and it started right up.

I think given what you said the factory alarm was doing something. I'm not the expert here, but I think after battery disconnect a window calibration procedure may need to be run. Search around and you should find it.
