2017 Magnetic Grey Tacoma TRD Off-Road
I just got my taco a couple months ago and i love it but i want to spice it up a bit and am planning to do some mods, I have a stock 2017 TRD Off-Road magnetic grey tacoma. I am very new to mods so If someone can give me pointers that would be great. I would like to give my car a bit of a lift, new tires and rims, and a pro grill. My projected budget is around 2k, what would be the best way to spend that to make the car look as cool as possible, I would prefer looks over like offroading quality because I will not be doing a ton of offroading and i just want mjne to look less stock. If you have any recommendations plz reply thanks!

First we'll not call your truck a 'car'. :)

Tires alone will be close to half your budget. But they also will likely make the biggest difference in appearance. Tires *and* wheels could be $2000

Talk with your friend, see what he put on his 4 Runner. Put your truck in on eBay, year make model. That will give you an idea how many millions of things you can do to your Tacoma. What do you want to do? Look cool as you drive by? 4 wheel on serious terrain?

almost impossible. "New suspension"? Even the cheapest suspension lifts are $1500. what does 'super-nice' mean? And what tires do you want? Tires that perform or 'look cool'? You may want to consider tempering your expectations.

Billstien 5100 shocks all around, Falken Wilpeak A/T 3W 255/80/17 tires, and AALs will get you 2-3.5” lift depending on your shock settings. That alone will run you about 2k with install unless you have friends that can help.

Those are just functional mods that you use every day...

My best recommendation, which is what I did... Take it slow, do some mild off-roading and figure out where your lane is. Little by little, you’ll learn what you need vs what you want. I liked nerf bars, but kept dinging them on trails, so I had to switch to sliders I got a great deal on. Look for bargains on TW to save some money.

About the rims, what is it you don’t like? I like the design in my ‘18 Sport, but not the silver machine facing. So I plasti-dipped my rims for $25, I like the look and saved a ton of money and weight in the process.

In all seriousness, take your time, don’t rush it and you’ll thank yourself later.

Welcome from SE VA! per-chance your buddy can lay out what they did on their 4runner, very similar to a tacoma.....if you aren't concerned about off road capability and mostly mall crawler looks, maybe a spacer lift vice suspension lift is more what you are looking for (much cheaper than a suspension lift)....some sage advice up there in the previous posts. Good luck, enjoy the journey!
