    TW,

A bit too much adventure-seeking for me last weekend. Managed to swamp my '15 DCSB. Had water up to the seat cushions for about twenty minutes. I know, I know. It's a 4x4, not a damn battleship. In my defense however, they claim it technically can't be called an adventure without at least one mishap.

Spent the majority of my week thus far stripping the cab, and contact-cleaning every electrical connector I could find. This has cleared up most all the dash lights after resetting the codes. And I'm keeping a close ear on the starter and the idler pulleys.

I still plan to drain and refill the diffs and transfer case, and while we're on that topic, does anyone think it's prudent to attempt a transmission fluid change? I have 100k on the truck.

At the time of this post, only the ABC/VSC dash lights remain. I was able to clear the VSC using the shorted-wire method. I cannot however, get the VSC to recalibrate nor get the dash lights to go out. I checked the ABS and ignition fuses, and also did a battery disconnect.

Below is what my scanner is telling me. Should I assume I have physical wire/sensor damage, or is there another possible source of these errors? (additional pics for your viewing pleasure)

Any insight would be much appreciated.

I would service the trans the breather runs along the top and up to the back of the motor, so play it safe.
I attached a photo for the method by hand give that a shot first. But it is possible the sensor got wet. The yaw rate sensor sits under the drivers seat and is covered by that metal shield you can see.

Clear the data and then calibrate it.

I'll give it a try and report back. Thank you. I may have missed that yaw rate sensor, so I'll check out it again.

    UPDATE

Score! I unplugged and removed the yaw rate sensor and hit both plug ends with some contact cleaner. After letting the cleaner evaporate and reinstalling the sensor, the ABS dash light immediately went away, but the VSC light remained. But unlike last time, the VSC zero point calibration process worked perfectly the first time, and now that dash light is gone too. I'm now officially free of all dash lights!

Thank you so much for the suggestions and info. Just goes to show that people don't need a lot of opinions . . . just one good one!

Now to review the various transmission flush procedures and find the the one that suits me. TGFTW! (thank God for Tacoma World)

    Cheers!

Just drain and fill for the transmission. see if it comes out a solid color if it does you got lucky and just add the same amount back in. If not then perform many drain and fills and adjust the level.

    stefanlg55,

I hope I'm not coming back to the same well one too many times, but since you were so helpful the first time! :) Regardless, very much appreciated!

So the latest update with my VSC/ABS dash light is even though I successfully cleared the lights and re-calibrated per the above procedure, I'm finding now that after about 3-5 minutes into each new trip I take, the dash lights reappear and stay illuminated until I turn off the ignition again.

Any thoughts on this? I guess it's possible I didn't re-calibrate on a level enough surface so I should do it again. Or maybe my yaw rate sensor isn't fully recovered. I can confirm it was indeed underwater for about 30 minutes. Or I guess it could be a wheel speed sensor. Just curious where an educated guess might start the troubleshooting.

    Thanks in advance

When the light returns does it have the same codes?

Update 2 - now the lights are gone again. It's been 48 hours and about six start/stop sequences. No dash lights. I guess something was still drying out. If it does return, I'll start with checking codes. Thank you

In related news, my starter is now acting funny. I guess I'll add rebuilding it to my list.

    Thanks again
