Yes. Especially on the trail. Around town, not so much.

Generally, I try to wave or acknowledge any Taco on the street that has some obvious modifications. I don’t bother with the stock trucks as I can only assume they are just regular people, not enthusiasts. That said, I would definitely wave back if they acknowledged me first!

In this part of the country not so much.

Most people are in there own world .I do get comments people are surprised to see a old person climb out to put gas in .

I get "Is this your Grand kids Truck"

Some places you wave at everyone because your surprised to see another vehicle .

    ummm, what!?
... no obvious mods going on right here, just a little old stock truck in fairly clean condition makes me not an enthusiast :( :(

i sometimes give a nod to 3rd gens out there at a light but only because they outnumber 1st gens here probably 20 to 1, 1st gens are quite hard to find (especially the ones pre crutch) in a metro 1 million population and gets worse it seems the closer i get to Chicago and north

That is the situation where I would be counting on you to wave first ;). Look, I’m not discriminating against stock trucks. Stock is completely fine. But, let’s face it, Toyota sold a ton of these trucks and you’ll be waving at a lot of confused, everyday drivers before you find that one person that gets it.

The only other 1st gen I ever see around here parks in the garage next to mine. Normally I just kiss the driver hello when I see them.

That's like my old man climbing down out of the lifted Nissan Hardbody I handed down to him(handed up? Lol:D well he bought it off me, but for a song and a dance, but he's given me tons as well.... goes both ways)
ANYWAYS, he's 63 or around there and 6'2" and 270 lbs and STRONG. It cracks me up to see him climb out of that old lifted 94 Nissan pickup:rofl: I'm sure others chuckle at him too

I wave at everyone on the trail. Always customary. Back in the day (get off my lawn!) it would always be reciprocated.

Now it seems like no one GAF and is their own little world.

they may have sold a ton of these but the estimates are only 35k remain on the roads with 200k+ miles

i had a 250 mile trip out of town today on the highways, i saw 2 1st gens, an 01-04 with Alaska plates so definitely out of the area!! and I saw a Paradise blue going the other way on i-29, was getting low on taco fuel or i mighta turned around and hauled it to catch up with them see where they were from (local or not)

counted around 5 3rd gens AND 5 old Ford Rangers
maybe i should wave to the old Ford Rangers around here lol
