I was thinking about painting my truck matte black (peeling clearcoat), but I couldn't find much for images on the web to see what it might look like. I went for it anyway, and wanted to share the outcome in case anyone else was thinking about doing it. (Obviously I changed out a few emblems, just going for newer look, not authenticity).

Thanks! I've done a fair amount to it but it was well taken care of when I bought it for 8k in 2011. Already lifted and loud - but I've replaced coil-over shocks and lots of other front end parts, plus leaf springs, headlights, and other typical stuff. It's at 246k miles now and running great! Love her!

Thanks! Sorry for duplicate photos... not sure what I did wrong when I uploaded.

My dad's '01 has over 400k on it and runs and drives perfectly.

Keep that one up and it could last you a very long time!

Hi new member here. Love the look of your truck. I just dropped my 2003 double cab pre-runner (178K miles) off to get a paint job. Stumbled on to this site looking for those OEM tailgate emblems, just to find out that they are no longer being made and ebay has them for insane prices.
I like your idea of having some kind of emblem on the tailgate even though its not the factory OEM style.
