After hanging around here for a couple of weeks, figured I should make an introduction. You guys have been an incredible resource for my fixup/restoration project...

In 2008, we got an '01 Limited from a dealer in Boise. It was loaded - sunroof, elocker, tow pkg, everything 100% stock, clean and best of all my wife loved it. Then in 2010 some jerk pulled an illegal U-turn in front of me, and we ended up with a crunched front end and a bent frame. When the insurance adjuster totaled it, I bought the wreck back from the insurance company and we went shopping for another one just like it. I ended up getting a <very similar> '02 TRD that had been rather hacked up by a previous owner, figuring it would be no problem swapping parts from my parts truck, right? As most of you probably know, that ended up being only partly correct. So far I have swapped out the bed, all 4 doors, both front seats, fender trim, and whole bunches of other small parts that were worse or broken on the '02 but not the '01. And the wreck still has a really good engine and drive train with about 120k on it.

So now I am in the process of fixing up the '02 so I can sell it and get probably a newer Tacoma, or something I can use for Uber driving (a whole 'nother story, btw!). I started finding this site repeatedly on searches for Taco info, and it sure seems like the place where people go who know their stuff. Thank you!!!

What is the deal with "build pages"? Should I make one? This truck has a long story and some issues, and it will go up for sale pretty soon...

Oh yeah, the sliders... I had never seen ones like that before I got the truck out in Boise, but I figured maybe it was an Idaho thing, or maybe a Rocky Mtn. thing - you know, places where you need big boulder boinkers. In my neighborhood we have mostly just big slag heaps of decomposed granite, but I have bounced her off a few downed trees. Those are freshly repainted (again) - for some reason the finish keeps getting all dinged up.

That reminds me - I have a pair of stock DC running boards that I've posted on the local craiglist for over 3 years with no takers, and the guy buying my junker probably won't want them either. They are from a Double cab, but I think they fit an Xtra also...

    Who needs 'em?

Your comments prompted me to educate myself a bit on sliders in general... I figured out which ones they are:
    https://www.summitracing.com/parts/aof-2004apsdkit

Not the most high-end apparently, but mine are nicely welded on and you can lift the truck by one of them, so I guess they work just fine.

This truck is also equipped with Fabtech DirtLogic 2.5 coilovers, which I knew nothing about before I got the truck. Still trying to figure out what exactly is "adjustable" about them... And I have to learn a few things about lifts too, because somebody did a 1" lift on this thing - why bother? That's just enough to make a whole bunch of parts not fit right. So I have been working on restoration items like new 1" higher replacement splash shields, etc... and today I am still trying to get the diff lock working.
