5/8/20 I added an LED light strip to my camper top. It is usb and plugs into my battery. Has a remote and does all kinds of light colors and patterns. Very bright!!

That is the way I felt too. I saw some used ones I could have got. But, weren't right color, or no toolbox, or no windows. This is exactly how I wanted it. And, as much use as it gets, worth the money.

5/19/20 Mounted a couple rattle can holders. Before they were mounted with magnets, which wouldn't hold when bouncing around. Now they are mounted with rivets. Keep some WD-40, grease, and such I use often at work.

5/19/20 Mounted my camp chair. Cut a couple pieces of aluminum and riveted a couple of cinch straps. Holds the chair tight and completely out of the way.

Did you get the .035" skin or the .063" skin?

Im getting a quote for a .063" but was wondering if that's overkill... Either way, seeing exactly what your options were is nice. Thanks again!

I got the .035 skin. I too thought about the thicker option. Glad I didn't now. I find the .035 to be plenty. It is very sturdy.

5/25/20 So excited! Got my solar hooked up today. Works great and happy with the way it looks. Got the battery strapped down and a box around it. Now fridge, interior lights, and a 12v accessory panel run off of my 100 amp hour deep cycle. Got a couple of toys to mount and hook up yet. Will update when I get them installed.

    Battery strapped

    Controller installed

    Aluminum angle bracing

    Box built with accessory panel

How long will that run a fridge? A few days?

Haven't had long enough to really test yet but I'm sure it would with just battery alone. 100 amp hour battery so 50 amp hour usable. Fridge running in eco mode is like 1.3 - 3 amp hours.

But I have a 100 watt solar panel, with room to add a second panel if needed so should be able to run fridge indefinitely. I am brand new to solar set ups so take with a grain of salt.

Oh I get it. maybe ice packs to help retain the cold? Either way, I think that's pretty clever.

Looking at a almost the same topper. Priced out nearly the same options but without windows on the side and no carpet and the thicker .063" skin and was quoted $3839 +Tax out here in CA. That thicker skin sure is costly. Im waiting for a quote on a normal DCU to see the difference. When you purchased yours did they mention a load rating for the rack on the top? Thinking about a tent and wonder what the weight capacity might be as well as the width between the vertical ladder mounts. You ponder to guess the width at its top most points?

6/6/20 I added a metal plate to the ceiling so that I can use magnets and drill too. Just cut a couple pieces of square aluminum stock for more bracing and made a few aluminum l brackets out of some left over flat stock. Riveted it to the ceiling. Got an adjustable dual fan with two speeds and glued some strong magnets to the bottom. Riveted a piece of aluminum flat stock over a couple Velcro cinch straps to hold my speaker. Now when working off the tailgate I can listen to music and have a breeze. Also mounted a fire extinguisher rated for fluids and electrical fires. Gotta stay safe!

Got a drone finally. Not a great one, but decent. Wish the camera was better. If I enjoy it enough I will get a better one.

Here is a couple of shots that has my Tacoma on a job site.

That metal ceiling panel is a good idea. I don't have a bunch of headroom tho. I should have built this thing 6" higher....lol.
