Hope this helps anybody looking to run 285/70r17 with stock 17" sport rims with a 3" lift or 3" leveling kit, from my experience and what I have seen you can run a 285/70r17 WITHOUT wheel spacers as long as it's a A/T tire or a highway tire that comes in that size. They do clear the upper control arm by a 1/4 of an inch which ant much but keeps you from buying wheel spacers and can't say much about turning with them but they can't rub much if they do that's nothing I would worry about if I had them on my truck and I try to treat my truck like a baby. My buddy ran a 2" leveling kit with 285's on stock sport rims and had now problem, he ran Nitto Terra Grapplers LT285/70r17 till they wore out and never had to do any trimming. There's some local used car lots where I live and they sell Tacoma's with 285's with no wheel spacers but have a 3" lift or 3" leveling kit on them and they do sell them trucks I try to keep up when they sell them and when they get new ones and see if they changed anything, (well seeing if maybe they quit putting 285's on there without wheel spacers to see if they seemed to be any problems doing that, so far as I know none) well hopes this helps anyone feel free to give any advice to help me and others out any questions fell free to ask. I will post in next few days a list of A/T tires and highway tires you can run.

I'm saying you can run a 285/70r17 without wheel spacers as long as you run a A/T or a highway tire in that size and most people say you can't run that size of tire without a lift so I was just giving a good lift to be able to run them tires and people say you have to have wheel spacers to run that size. I was just giving my advice about them and what I have see and heard and giving how I know you can run that tire size without spacers.

Have you hit any bumps to test your 1/4" of clearance ?

Well me? No. Haha i still have stock tires on but my buddy I talked about ran them and he drives like a crazy man and were he lives the roads are real bad a lot of half ass patching and a bridge that has a lot of patching at each end pretty bad rough and he don't slow down over all them bumps but forgot to say this you can run them only if you do on road driving not much off-road but you can run them off-road if you want but I wouldn't.

I mean if you do mudding or something like that you should be fine but not no serious off-roading or like a lot of rock crawling and a lot of flexing cause then it will prolly hit the upper control arm but someone looking to make there truck look better and maybe on a money budget (meaning wants new tires but can't get wheel spacers or new rims this is do able) that doesn't do any off-road or alittle off-road should be 100% fine with this set up. During this past summer I was just mins away from buying Toyo Open Country A/T 2's in 285/70r17 and run without spacers but back out cause I wasn't sure I wanted them tires.

And also it seems hard to believe what I'm telling y'all is true but if a car lot is selling them trucks like that and keep replacing them with the same trucks with the same lift and maybe different tire brands but still and A/T tire and haven't heard anything out of them saying that you can't run these tires cause there to close to the upper control arm and cause whatever damage to the tire or the truck I would hope and pray to god that the car dealership would catch on if there was problems cause if I went to buy a truck and they said you can run these tires no problem and then had problems down the road with them I would be pretty pissed and wouldn't be putting that tire size back on and telling my friends and other people like y'all about it to try to help people out about my problem I had with them so they don't run into the same problem.

And would hope that the car dealership would stop putting them tires on them so they don't get bad reviews if there was damage be ending done to the tire or truck, cause if it was me selling the trucks and wasn't having any problems out of them and could continuously sell them way not keep putting the tires back on there without wheel spacers.

I'm trying to find info about running a 285/75/16 on my truck and happened to come across this thread. I would like to run an A/T but change from stock 16 rims to the FN Wheels in a 16. If u know of anyone or heard of anyone running that size tire on this FN wheels without wheel spacers that would help me out greatly. I'd rather not put spacers on becuz I don't trust them

It's really hard to comprehend what you are trying to say with long, run-on sentences. We would value your experience if we could understand what your experience was.

I do not have experience with those tires or rims. I am trying to find out if a 285/75/16 A/T ( all-terrain) tire, with FN Wheels/ Konig Countersteer wheels will fit, without rubbing the upper control arm. The reason in which I am asking is because I would rather not install wheel spacers between my rim and hub. The reason why I do not want to use wheel spacers is because I do not trust them. Your help in this matter or experience would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Do you know what the offset and backspacing is for both sets of rims?

I'm looking more towards the Konig Countersteers. They have an offset of 0 and a back spacing of 4.5

You should be fine as long as you have a 4.5 backspacing, you'll prolly have to trim some of the inter finder and maybe a cab mount chop, but I doubt you'll have to do the cab mount chop.

Ok, thanks for the information. Removing plastic I am fine with. Chopping up a cab mount I am not ok with lol. Maybe when it's time to order everything, FN Wheels website can tell me if I have to chop the mount or not. Thanks again, I appreciate it

Your going to need to do a CMC to run 285/70r/17's. Once the suspension compresses, the tire's going to be in the same place, unless you do bump stop work.

I have a 2 inch lift and will be running the same 16 inch wheel, but I'm going to buy after market konig wheels with a different back spacing than stock wheels
