I just bought a used canoe from a post on Craigslist. I'm pretty pleased with it and feel I did pretty good in the deal. I noticed that among the usual rock scratches on the outside of the hull there is some "checking" going on, presumably from age and being in the sun??

It's an old town discovery 146K.

How concerned should I be over it, and what (if anything) should be done about it?

The checking doesn't appear to go very deeply and the hull doesn't leak. I'm just wondering if there is something I should do to keep it from continuing or whatever.
