I'll be in the area from SoCal and I should be free for some light wheeling on June 5 or 6 in the AJ / Gold Canyon area if anyone is interested and be a guide for a run...

I jut got some tall/skinnies for shoes and I want to get them in the dirt! I don't know the area that well ( OR trails at least ) and I prefer to not wheel alone for safety reasons. Anything through or around the Superstitions or by / though Tortilla Flat would be nice too.

Thanks and I would love to retire in Flag, but my wife is SoCal girl and it's proving to be a real challenge to get her out of here.

Isn't the road past Tortilla Flat closed?

Not sure if you're dead set on running in the AJ area but I might be running a little bit further West on Saturday. Trail starts on the 17. Basically run bloody basin road east from the 17 then head south before you get to sheep's bridge. It's a pretty easy trail with some gorgeous views. I don't feel like running all the way to the bridge because it was packed two weeks ago and not worth it.

Darn, wish I'd seen this earlier. How was it? I had fun scouting for the Heber Wild Horses in Sitgraves NF for some light off-roading on Friday. Successful trip too as I found 4 family bands and one group of 7-8 deer. Would have been nice to meet some members from out this way.

I actually ended up running Schnebly Hill in Sedona, then drove up past Stoneman Lake. Schnebly was a little rough (mostly rocks and stuff) but it was a lot of fun.

There are some really cool trails out here that are pretty easy that take you past some really cool stuff.

I'll reach out again for the next time I'm out here. Schnelby is on the list too.

Schnebly was fun. Kind of packed with all the Jeep tours but still fun. Lots of big rocks but nothing too crazy.
