I have a black Tacoma with chrome badges. I don't like the look of the chrome. Was curious if anyone had put black overlays on the badges. Didn't know how the black of the badges would look on the black paint. Any suggestions?

I had a 2015 Tacoma for over 4 years and I never had to replace the plastidip. For about $5, you can’t beat it. Unless your going to remove them all together.

Easily...I just did my new 2020 and have plenty to spare with each badge getting 6-8 coats. Now I’m considering plastidiping the chrome bumpers with the extra as a possible layer of protection for the original chrome for when I get the bumpershellz in and installed.

I would suggest aftermarket badges if you are willing to spend money on them. I have those custom TRD Sport door emblems that resemble the TRD Pro door emblems. Other than that, I removed all the emblems on the tailgate, not including the letter inserts and the bedside decals.

Out of curiosity if you Black them out on a black Tacoma or any black truck for that matter. Is it worth keeping them on there? I’m not against it, I’m just puzzled. I’m guessing it’s simply to give it the midnight look. I would test the look out with plasti dip; easily removable. The factory overlays get expensive, and what if you don’t like the look? Out more than a $10 rattle can of plastic dip.

If you decide to go with the OEM overlays just know they come in 2 variations. Flat and gloss.

I recently swapped my gloss overlays for the flat version. They were not too difficult to get off but a couple times it looked like the emblem itself wanted to come off before the overlay. The overlays were destroyed during the process. Just FYI for anyone wondering how well they attach.

Search for this item number on eBay: 264585320798
This is what bought and installed last weekend.

There's probably another listing if you want the tailgate letter inserts. I did not.

Here's a picture of both types. Sorry the angles and lighting is a little different for each but you should be able to see the difference.

    Stawk as FUCK!
$50 on ebay for emblem overlays, I did this route because I didnt want to hassle with taking off my existing badges, maintaining their position, an then removing the glue before applying the new one. With the overlays I just slap on in 1 sec and its on there for sure.
