Hey guys, anyone have any recommendations on some good trails in/near big bear? I’m visiting family this weekend and thought I’d try hitting a trail or two while I’m there. I’ve got a stock 4x4 so don’t think I’ll be trying anything too difficult. Thanks in advance!

try skyline drive it’s a good scenic route that doesn’t require a lot of clearance... I did it a few years ago with my kids and they were amazed at how big the trees got at the top

I hav't done it yet, but Wildhorse Meadow looks mellow with a nice picnicking area at the meadow.

Thanks for the suggestions. Very much appreciated. Both trails sound like a good fit.

Green Valley fire road up in Big Bear is a fun one, takes you to Holcomb Valley/3n16 and all the other fire roads up there

I just did 1N09 last weekend and it was a nice, scenic and easy trail. Best direction is from 330 to 38.

I ended up in Johnson Valley/Joshua Tree instead of big bear this weekend. So I ran the Rattlesnake Canyon trail. Never done it before but highly recommend it. Super cool scenic canyon. Had a good mix of desert washboards, small rocks, bigger rock obstacles and a nice little creek flowing through. Ran out of time to make it all the way up but did more than 3/4 and back and really cool area. Perfect weather too! 851C6675-219F-4111-9E8F-17F945430219.jpg11FBE002-EC10-4FB4-A71C-5F23469421D5.jpg

Anyone planning to go off roading this coming weekend? Looks like there will be pretty good weather this weekend. I’m hoping to get out somewhere and I would rather be in a small group than solo.
I have a stock OR so nothing crazy for me here as I don’t want to tear up my truck. I’m open to ideas and I have some of my own.

    Anza Borrego area if open
    Lucerne Valley
    Bee Canyon
Maple Springs up to Santiago Peak.

    Thoughts?

Thanks for that info. I’ve never been to that area so I didn’t know. Borrego Springs has a high of 93 on Saturday and 97 Sunday. Maybe too hot.

This time of year it's all about going up into the mountains

Come to think of it that's about the only place I go to

Let me know if you guys end up doing Big Bear...I'm going to be up there this weekend camping with my dad and my nephew. Not sure how much time I'll have aside from the hiking and stuff they want to do, but I do want to hit up a trail especially if a group is going up there already.

I was thinking I'd hit up White Mountain on Saturday if I have the time

I think I’d be in for any run this weekend, including big bear.
