I'm considering switching out the suspension on my '16 Sport with the stock Bilstein found on the OR models. Has anyone made this switch? Thoughts? I don't do much off-roading, but find the Sport a bit harsh at times on road.
    Thanks in advance!

The off-road stock 4600’s will be soft. If you went Bilstien 5100’s stiffer but in a good way. No body roll or nose dive. IMO if you want to upgrade get 5100’s won’t disappointment great budget lift great ride.

Yea, I would definitely just go ahead and upgrade to something aftermarket like the 5100's/springs and AAL of your choice. Sounds like the perfect time for a minor lift. Buy once, cry once.

It will handle somewhere between an off road and a sport, but wil ride better but firmer is a better feel. I think it's smoother feeling than an stock OR and as nice as the pro on the road. Off road manners ,it's got to be better that the stock OR all day long and way better than the stock sport. I have only risen in my neighbors pro when we were comparing lights and his ride I think is very similar.

Yes, go with the 5100’s. There is a night and day difference between these and the factory OR Bilsteins. It’s kind of a joke they even put them on the OR model. That shock should come standard on the base Tacoma’s and the 5100 should come standard on the Off Road model. They are so much better in all conditions. Get them and you won’t regret it.

Go to a local Toyota dealer and test drive an OR model. I was thinking about making the switch from Sport Suspension to the OR but after a test drive I’ve decided to go with the 5100’s

To me, the Sport suspension feels pretty damn close to the OR with just the sway bar delete. Perfect for me without all of the brake dive.

Just a thought and very easy to try.

I did the 5100’s + Icon AAL’s on my 2016 Sport. Really happy with it both on & off road. Set it up for a 2” lift all the way around.

The suspension on my OR is stiff as hell. I can't imagine how stiff the sport suspension is.

Exactly My old off-road 4600’s were so soft braking I felt like I was going to rake the ground LOL

Hmmm... The suspension on my wife's 5th gen trd off-road 4 runner is very soft but on my truck it shakes the piss out of you going down a logging road. Maybe i should get the dealer to check it out....

I have the same question.I have a 16 Sport 2wd,99.9% on road driving.5100's all around ? When I hit a decent sized bump at highway speeds seems like it jumps sideways sometimes, almost unsafely.

overall 5100 is a better choice. But I will have a ‘20 TRD OR suspension (bolt in ready) coming off my Tacoma in early August. If you are interested let me know. 1500 miles in it maybe!

I thought mine was stiff too. It had some nose dive but washboards would rattle your teeth out. New suspension eliminated the nose dive but really helped the bumps too. So it feels softer now but with less roll.
