So just got back from a trip and was about to start cleaning the truck when I noticed it seems like my tires are rubbing the UCA where the ball joint meets the spindle. Running SPC UCAs right now on 285 KO2s, 5 inch backspacing. I have about 1.25 inches of clearance when its sitting and can't seem to replicate the rub at full lock. I haven't tried stuffing the tires yet. Any ideas on why this is happening?

Planning on adjusting the UCA to get some more clearance before trimming for 35s, but figure should probably figure this out first.

Got picture of exactly where it’s rubbing?

I do while it's dirty... ignore the mud that needs to be cleaned. IMG_3918 copy.jpg

You can see the rub marks there, and it appears to be rubbing on the arm above it as well, especially on the other side. Just can't figure out how exactly its happening/why

That’s the best way to see it lol!

That looks directly beside the tire, I don’t even know how it would rub there unless it was negative camber issue

Huh! Visually it doesn't look to be an issue but I'll have to check that! thank god for lifetime alignments...

What I did to see where and how I was rubbing, I put blue painters tape on the UCA’s and drove around like a weirdo reversing on dips at full lock or off and on my driveway. Just any predicament really. For me it was reversing at full lock on dips. The weight of the truck pushes forward

It might be his backspacing. OP, what wheels do you have that have 5" BS?

It would rub under compression with about an inch and a quarter of clearance at ride height?

Good call, I'll clean her up and get weird :D I'm just curious to see what does it, especially because I don't remember really flexing out the suspension this trip.

They're Dick Cepek Torque 17 inch wheels. Was the previous owners single modification, they seem to work reasonably well. It seems unlikely to me that they're the cause just because I have so much clearance between the sidewall and the UCA when it sits at ride height. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that shouldn't really change *that* much even fully stuffed?

Go with 4.75 BS or run a wheel spacer.
    I hate spacer though.

Would that extra quarter inch make the difference? I guess I'm skeptical its the backspacing just because of how much I clear the UCA at ride height

I am running 285x70x17 Procomp Lapaz with 4.5 BS and was running SPC. No rubbing at all. Now running Total Chaos uniball and still no problems.
