Wiring ARE Cap Break Light - Need Help Identifying Plug

What type of power plug is this. I'm trying to wire this to my break lights but I'm completely unfamiliar with this plug type.

 

Looks the same as mine.
I have a new ARE.
Looks like the wires tap into the left tail light.
You might check with ARE on a matching plug.

 

Positive and negative if coming from the light. Ground it, get a test light, find the brake feed in the light socket, attach. Rinse and repeat.

I'm trying to figure out what male plug to buy so I can plug power to it.

 

Unless you go back to ARE you may not find it. For less than $10, you can cut that off and wire in your own male and female. There are at least 10,000 available on Amazon.

I notice these in other forum posts and they seem like a good idea. I was hoping there was a convenient plug I could buy. That pig tail is short. Wish me luck.

 

I've never seen that plug before, and I don't see it at any of the topper parts places online. I would try an A.R.E. dealer or two if you're planning on sticking with that plug. Otherwise I think @Tacman19 is right, removing it and replacing it with a more generic two-wire plug would be easy and cheap.

On my ARE, that plugs into the dome light there, which is wired to a control board over on the side of the topper. I wouldn’t cut it.

 

I agree with this. I'm not sure how old the topper is, but double check that the plug you're working with is to power the brake light rather than a dome light. A lot of the newer ones have a fuse box that all the wiring runs through like @megillet mentioned.

 

I don't see a fuse box anywhere and the break light doesn't appear to be plugged into anything.

 

This is an ARE MX cap. I don't see a control board anywhere. I drove over to an ARE dealer but they wanted me to pay to have it wired. Had no interest in helping me identify the plug. I've sent an email to the ARE website contact. Can someone post a pic of their control board so I can see what they look like?

 

Admittedly, I’ve had my cap for 5 years and still haven’t wired it in...



I didn’t want the installer to hack my truck’s wiring.

 

Good news, ARE got back to me and said I'm missing the bellow part. It's a delphi connector. This company did good by me.

Was thinking it could we behind the left tail ight.
That's where my wires go.
I'll check it out when I put my new bumper on.
