Transfer case questions

    Sorry for the duplicate post. First time poster and I might’ve posted the wrong way The first time.

    I’ve got a grinding sound coming from what I believe is my transfer case. 2000 Tacoma 3.4L 4x4 TRD manual transmission. Even while the truck is in neutral and I push it, it still grinds. After lifting up the rear end and putting it in gear, the sound definitely seems to be coming from the transfer case. Does anyone have experience with this? Or experience with rebuilds (if that is the problem)? Thank you.
