I have a 2019 Tacoma SR with 16" steel wheels and 245/75 R 16 tires with low miles and I intend to put them on the new wheels. The TRD Off Road ran 265/75 R 16 tires. The 245's should fit those wheels, shouldn't they? I think the wheel geometry is identical.

Yes the tires will fit fine. I’ve done it before in a transitional period. Had stock Sr5 245s on my trdor wheels.

I read somewhere that I will need to change the lug nuts because the steel wheels use a different design than the alloy wheels. Can anyone confirm?

The tire pressure sensors are also different. You can use the steel wheel sensors but they need to be rotated 180 degrees and you need to warn the tire shop whenever they break down the tire to avoid damage to the TPMS.

Follow up question: Toyota says there are two possible lug nuts for the alloy wheels. P/N 90084-94001 (standard length) and 90084-94002 (longer length). Do you remember which lug nuts you used?

As has been said, new TPMS sensors and lug nuts. Not sure about long or short, but the alloy wheels have to have a flat washer on the lug nut. The steel nuts are acorn shaped. Here are the TPMS sensor part numbers. Don't cheap out with after market sensors. Good chance you will have problems. The new sensors will have to be programmed into the computer. Make sure to write down the codes on each sensor BEFORE you install them.
