I’ve had 2 sets of Falkens and they are more of a backup tire than a daily. The 255/75/17 Yoko MT are possibly my next tire.

I’ve just read the duratracs suck in snow and ice from some on TW. I may just get those in the C Load and make my own opinion instead of the MTs

If you're doing 75/25 street/light trail, you already have the best type of tire for it. I have C-range ridge graps and they've been awesome in the 3 years I've had them. For mostly street, I'd rather go with duratracs than trail grapplers though.

Here's my ridge graps in the snow, sand and rocks. I also get 17-18mpgs on average.

I was looking at the Yoko in the same size but didn't find the need (or funds) to go to a 17" yet

showing off! Nice man I like the rig. What size? What lift? I don’t think I will have a problem with the 6112 and a 285/70-17

285/70/17s with Icon stage 1 with SPC UCAs. Around ~2.25" lift. Lots of trimming, pounded the pinch weld flat but haven't done a CMC yet. Doesn't actually rub there. But slowly prepping for 35s.

that is strange. What is the BS and offset of your wheel?

I have a 2” RC spacer in now and clear the Pmetric tire fine. Man I hope I don’t get this lift and am SOL on this tire size lol.
If that is the case 275/70-17 KO2 it is
    Ugh

I liked the Duratracs overall. I think the KO2s are better for the majority of my driving (62 freeway miles per day) with mixed weekend warrior status. I got 65k miles out of my Duratracs but they did get loud the last 20k or so. I have more cornering confidence with the KO2s, the Duratracs never hung me out to dry, but I didn't have quite the confidence.

Mass I'm referring to the tire weight, and if you want to keep it going the wheel tire combo. Keep the tire as light as you can while meeting your needs and you'll have better ride, better economy and better parts wear.
I'm not opposed to an E if the weight is right, but would take a C or a D if it was available. I like to try out different options as well.

    I believe 4.53 BS and -12mm offset.

I think you'll likely rub a fair bit with a -12 offset on a 285, unfortunately. If you're willing to give up a bit of width you could consider the KO2 in 34x10.5 as well which might fit better but still give you some height. Won't look as wide stance though. CMC is pretty common, is there a specific reason you don't want to do it? A decent shop shouldn't charge much for it and it'll guarantee you can get the look you want.

You might also have luck with a new UCA that would net you more caster depending on where things end up rubbing.

I mean I am running a 0 offset wheel with 4.75 “ of back spacing now. That is less internal clearance that a -12 with 4.28. That new wheel will push everything away from the suspension. I don’t see why it would be an issue. It’s only a 8.5 inch wheel.

CMC? Honestly... bc I don’t want to cut into a new 40k truck for a tire. I would rather go the 275/70-17 option... I will have a contingency set up at the shop on stand by haha

    34x10.5 seems big

You'll push away from the suspension but make it more likely to rub front/back by adding negative offset. 34x10.5 is big but narrow enough that you'll (likely) have less trouble fitting it than a 285. 275/70R17 should have no problem in any case though if you're alright with that as a fallback. Just trying to give you options to keep a bigger tire but reduce the likelyhood of rubbing.

I can only comment on my experience with Duratracs. Had them for a few years on my 99 taco. I drove 65% street, 25% snow and ice, 10% trail. Very good on dirt, rocks, and snow. Average on street. Not a great feel for the road, and yes they got very loud and a bad wear pattern as they aged. There were very bad on ice. I was on a highway straight stretch going the limit and they lost it when I hit a patch of ice. Ended up sliding across the oncoming lane and nosing into the snow bank. Thank god for that steel tank of an ARB front bumper! No damage whatsoever. Sorry I don't remember what the load rating they were. I had to get a set of dedicated winter tires after that. We have can have some 8 month winters here in Alberta.
