So I got the new Toytec aluma 2.0's this weekend along with the sway bar relocation kit. Everything rides great other that the fact that when i hit a hard bump on the driver side there is a very loud clunk coming from the driver front.Toyota checked it out and said everything was great and they think it is a faulty coilover... When I got home I checked it and and the sway bar is so close to the driver side coilover I cannot even fit my pinky between the two. I think they are hitting when I hit a hard bump or pothole. Is this possible? and if so why isnt the relocation kit spacing it out further away? I am going to take the sway bar off tonight and see if thats the problem, but I'm at work and its driving me nuts. Any insight is greatly appreciated! BTW I have a 2019 TRD DCDB Tacoma

    Hey Cameron,

In some cases I have seen the coilover and sway bar come in contact with each other when the actual sway bar bracket isn't installed correctly. So the little black bracket (that bolts over the sway bar bushing) can be installed either way, installing it one way will push the sway bar backward, and installing it the other way will push the bracket forward a tad bit more.

Send me a pm with some photos when you get a chance and we can go from there!

    Thanks

    David

David, attached are the pics from the driver side and passenger side. There is space between the coilovers and sway bar., but not much. I have the sway bar mounts positioned where the open side of the factory mount is facing the rear of the truck therefore pushing the sway bar as far forward as possible. I am at a complete loss and it is driving me crazy to the point I do not want to dive my truck. It is a very loud clunk when I go over sudden bumps only on the driver side and Toyota continues to say everything is perfect. Could this be the coilover? The coilovers have not been adjusted. They are still set at the height they were when I received them. @Toytec Lifts

Sorry to second guess you, but are you sure that having the slotted end of the bracket facing the rear of the vehicle moves the sway bar further forward? Normally the bracket is mounted the opposite way (slot end forward / hole end toward rear).

I tried it both ways and the slotted end forward made the sway bar immediately touch the coilover. I’m at a loss

Hate to he that guy, but I’ve been chasing a similar issue down myself and curious if anyone found resolution on this one?

I Had a dealer install a ToyTec Boss on a 2020 Taco. 1st they didn’t install the sway bar relo and I was getting all kinds of noise from the front end when I turned the wheel. Brought the truck back, had them install the sway bar relo - they left sitting in my rear seat.
Investigating other creaks when the suspension articulates over road imperfections, manhole covers, etc. I finally took a look and found the sway bar is definitely making contact with the driver’s side coilover... maaaaaybe the passenger side too.
I’d expect to have a clunk when the sway bar hits the coilover however I just have creaks.

    A couple picks:

Put some marking agent on the swaybar and go drive the truck and make it knock. You’ll know if it’s hitting since it will transfer to the coilover.

I had the same problem. Loosen both bushing clamps and move the bar over. You will most likely have to move the small lock rings to adjust it, then use the rings to keep it from sliding back. Torque to 30ft lb

Thanks, @Triple P. I ended up flipping the sway bar clips so the slotted portion is now facing the back of the truck and the actual hole is the furthest forward. This moves the sway bar forward a little.

As for removing the lock rings... I didn't see an easy way to do that. Any tips?

Glad you got that fixed. I just gently (sorta) tapped it into position then squeezed it with pliers, clamp etc. Its soft. Not sure if that's the text book way, but it seemed to work
