For the past few years my community service has been recoveries in the Bishop area. Lots of good folks on this site, and others, seem to tag me as soon as someone gets stuck or broken. I'm a bit old school and would never leave someone who needed help, on road or off. I give back my trying to be good guy and helping when needed. In the meantime I like to play the grumpy "I remember when" card. I'm an asshole with a good heart according to my wife. lol

Yeah White Mountain has a few spots that are similar in difficulty Gold Mtn but a little less severe. It's a much longer trail than Gold and if you take the harder lines it can pose a couple good challenges but overall it's pretty easy. Couple steep climbs and rocky grades. I would say 4wd and a good front skid required but no need for sliders if you choose the easier lines

Cleghorn or Pilot Rock would be great for beginners/anyone. I did a run all the way through Cleghorn with a few friends and one dude was on 33's with a 2wd and did fine after he aired down. Obviously he took the easier lines though. Cleghorn is cool because there's always harder offshoots if you are feeling spicy. I like to start it from the backside on 138 to avoid some of the crowding on the first section of the main trial.

Change of plans for me this weekend, we're moving our camping trip from Big Bear up north to the Los Padres forest to avoid the massive crowds in Big Bear. There's only 2 campgrounds up there that allow camp fires and only one of them takes reservations (completely booked this weekend), and don't want to risk the first come/first serve on the other one.

Anyone know if Main Divide from Ortega HWY to Santiago Peak is open? I ran maple springs this week but would like to try a longer route.
