2006 Toyota Tacoma prerunner. Ignition tends to turn over and then it will not. No ticking sound so not the starter. We thought ignition switch, I tried spare key and it worked however now back to not starting and the maintenance light flashes 6 times and then stops. Anyone have any thoughts
    Thanks in advance

Can still be the starter and you need maintenance

    Have you verified battery condition?

Using a spare key mostly tests that the main key was worn. Not so much the switch condition. Still possible to be the switch.

So you have a 'maintenance required' light that is flashing? Or some other light? Like a security light. Or MIL / CEL? The maintenance light flashes with a key turn if you are within 500 miles of being 5000 miles from the last reset of the light. After crossing the 5k mark, it stays on steady until you reset it.

Helpful hint. Always good to keep a topic contained within a single thread. Posting a new thread on the same topic just wastes your time and that of folks trying to assist.

It's also good to respond to questions folks ask where they are trying to gain clarity to your situation.

Listen carefully when you turn the key and nothing happens. If you hear a very small click then nothing I would almost bet money that the starter solenoid is in need of a repair kit. Cheap fix.

You can buy the contacts and plunger new from Nations Starter and Alternator for about 30 - 35 bucks. Much cheaper than hundreds for a rebuilt POS from Autozone etc.

Check this video for rebuilding the solenoid on the starter.

You don't buy a truck for its fucking fenders!
    2.5" lift w/35's
Start relay could also be going bad, but I'd check your battery connections on the battery and on the starter first. Loose connections can do all kinds of weird shit like this.
