The more air allowed under a vehicle the greater affect this air will have on fuel economy. The lowered front air deflector (seen commonly on trucks due to increased ride height) will reduce the amount of air and thereby improve fuel economy. These deflector strips (or chin spoilers) are generally there for air deflection. They do two things - one, they change the air pressure under the car helping stability at speed, and two, they help divert airflow up to the radiator.

Like I said earlier.....do you really think it was designed to be there for it's good looks ???? Why would Toyota engineering put it there? The answer is above.

Here you go. Aerodynamics. Not cooling... From an actual Toyota engineer. Even someone not familiar with engineering could clearly see it would not direct airflow to the radiator all the way down below and inboard of the solid bumper.

If you investigate further you will find the negative pressure area of the peice provides an additional benifit to airflow thru the radiator

    I left mine on.

There aint nothing special about my truck to draw attention to it, much less an air damn thing. It doesn't bother me any being there.

My air dam keeps all the bugs from sticking to the chassis undercarriage after a long drive.

I cut 4 inches off mine so it covers the square tubing, I didn't like how it looked without a TRD/aftermarket skid plate, took about 20 minutes start to finish. I don't ever plan to go off-roading so spending $400 on a skid plate seems like a waste of money for me.
