Has there been a post comparing performance between the Morimotos and the 2020 LEDs? I'm [very] late to this thread and would very much appreciate a link or quick recap of the results.

 

So according to this a 2018 OR (which does not have a "DRL" option on the turn signal stalk) would have amber DRLs?

 

No. The amber DRL goes to Tacoma SR5. But TRS says you can't leave it on too long otherwise you will have an issue. I don't know.

 

If you are talking about you turn the stalk to DRL and it is not on. That's okay. Just turn the parking lights. So white DRL comes on including the parking lights.

 

Thanks for the response. Isn't that contradicting though? I prefer the white DRL. But that post mentions the DRL will be amber for trucks without a "DRL" option on the signal stalk.

 

Yes, Tacoma SR5 does not have DRL in the headlights like the higher models do... but it has DRL on the stalk which is for Amber DRL in the stock turn signal housings. I don't know about Tacoma SR... I haven't seen anyone installed these headlights in their SR trucks.

 

SR and SR5 models use the front turn signals as DRL, which is what causes the issues. All other versions have separate LED DRL and will work normally. If your OR doesn’t have the DRL then it should have AUTO instead. It will still work normal with white DRL.

No problem. I think the confusion comes in with the SR and SR5 needing to turn off the factory turn signal DRL via the switch except that Canadian models won’t have the DRL off option as DRLs are required there.

 

So on Friday 6/13/20 I decided to order a pair of XB headlights and later in the day I added matching fogs to my order. Of course I forgot to use my 10% discount from Speed Academy. Whats the best route to go about this? Should I cancel my order before they ship on Monday or should I wait and talk to someone. Thanks for your help!

Just installed the OEM Toyota 2020 headlights today and so far, they are amazing! I also put on the color match ME-SO trim plates and painted my chrome fog light bezel rings to match the lettering on my Pro grill. I had already installed the Morimoto fog lights. I would have loved to see how these Morimoto lights would have looked with the fogs, but I have already paid for these headlights once on this thread (not received or money returned) and I’m not willing to pay for them again. I removed my original 2016 factory Toyota lights and they still looked like new, so I hope these new LEDs will hold up like the old ones did.

Horrible customer service. Their phone lines are also not working. You get a spot on hold from 7 down to 1. The issue is once you get to next in line, it bumps you right back to 7. I purchased a set of headlights last Sat. I called on Monday to assure that those headlights were in stock... mind you I was on hold for a good 30 min everytime. They assured me that the headlights would be shipped the next day. Tues, Wed, and Thur. came around and I was still not provided with a tracking number. Friday came around and that’s when they sent me an email stating that they didn’t have the parts in stock. I spoke to them every single day of the week and every day they lied to me saying they spoke to ppl in their warehouse and confirmed that the lights were there. I spoke to Rae and Simone (the manager). Like I said shop at your own risk. That was my experience.

Man what amazing customer service!!! Called this morning and they got it taken care of. Loving Retrofit Source so far

 

It was my bank card. I was one of those who ordered near then end of the group buy. eledobleu told me TRS was prioritizing their own customers before the group buy since they were getting low on the first shipment, and that he could no longer give me an ETA on when I may get the headlights. I still waited and waited, but then I finally asked for a refund a few months later. I received an email showing I was getting a refund but it never showed up on my account. I emailed him a number of times and he keep giving excuses and said that I should see it show up in my account soon. By the time I called my bank it was too late for them to do anything. I’ve never had a problem like this on this site before and now realize eledobleu was just stalling so my bank couldn’t do anything and that he never had any intentions of giving me the headlights or my money back. He’s done this to a number of people on this group buy, I’m not the only one.

 

How are you liking the OEM LED headlights? Are the highbeams LED as well or are they still halogen?
