What upgrades?

My Taco is stock 2019 TRD Off Road 4WD. I know it has a front end skid plate. And I thought it has an extra set of shocks. It has MTS, rear locker and crawl control. Anything else in their off road package?

My main question has to do with upgrades for off-roading. I've taken it some places rated as moderate. For those of you who know the Charoulou Gap no way am I or my vehicle ready for that. It's a worthy goal.

Mainly I am looking for a primer on what equipment an off road vehicle needs in order to be able to handle difficult rated trails. Tires and suspension come to mind. Lift? What else?

Rock sliders should be very high on your list.
Then skids right next to it.
I'm assuming since you're in Arizona you don't want to mess with the stock tires with the sharp stuff you have everywhere in that part of the US.

Edit: the stock splash or skid whatever you wanna call it if you're gonna seriously offroad should be upgraded

More like a mix of loose sand and sharp rock. With a lot of clay in many areas.

As far as tires go, the stock Taco can fit bigger tires. Factory is 265/70R16. I see no reason to get bigger wheels, yet. What about wider tires? I can see pros and cons. Same with aspect ratio, I see pros and cons. I don't know how to balance the pros and cons.

What about tire brand and construction? I'd never heard of Dick Cepak until I started researching tires. And it seems all the major brands offer extreme terrain tires of some sort.

Lastly, my favorite dog is what I got. Daisy is the sweetest, most loving and fastest Cairn terrier Whippet mix ever born.

Get some good tires, a compressor and tire repair kit. Spend the rest of your money on fuel.

I’ve been all over the place in my nearly stock truck.

Agreed with @Shellshock. Tires, tire repair kit and know how to use it, an air compressor and some basic stuff like a cheap shovel and a buddy you'll be good to go for awhile.

As for tires check out your local thread for the south west and ask around and see what people like and don't like.

I bought the Maxtrax mounts, some steel straps, front bed rail, and T-Nuts.
