Tried to get up to the shooting area at Yankee today. Winched all day and only made it to within 300 yards of it. Open open and no chains sucked.

I was cruising between there and Rollinsville early Sunday. I decided not to hit the trail cause I really didn't want to dig myself out. You must have gone up after me cause I don't remember seeing any tracks. Rollinsville was an F'n zoo at the Moffet parking lot and there was an RV parked right in front of the Rollins Pass trail, wtf?

I got to the top of central city at about 10:00. The road to columbine campground had several deep drifts and there were a couple jeeps chaining up there. I tried going south on Bald Mountain Ln but ended up turning around after getting stuck twice. I ended up going all the way around to Fall River rd and after winching the whole second to last hill up to the shooting range we called it.

Sounds like we might have just missed each other. lol. I did see the trail broken thru a bit on Bald Mtn (near the private driveway) but the tracks didn't seem that fresh.

Spent some QT with the kiddos today. Took a nice drive up Gold Camp Rd. 77AF2C36-5E65-461E-A10D-D7E842F79092.jpgAA5CE182-E237-432A-8126-39BD04702485.jpg 0AD27800-1D64-4D84-A0FD-FC0B89DE737A.jpg3F4B23C2-7677-4A21-95ED-CDB1AFD4BC30.jpg 0B17D4E0-9006-4FA9-9E63-251D8B8387C9.jpgDACFBDBD-BF70-4D71-8D49-DB608C647DFC.jpg CB303008-7941-4F63-8176-5B4CAE31FEA7.jpg

On Sunday June 7, my brother in law and I celebrated his 68 birthday wheelin' (@In4aride) / ridin' (@johntoyota) Kelly Flats. He wanted to try out the new suspension on his Jeep. I expected a crowded trail on this dry, cool, sunny day. When we arrived at the base of Heart Attack Hill, there were at least 8 vehicles waiting on some pickup that was parked sideways across the trail. We bypassed that snafu, took Aneurysm Hill and found the rest of the trail fairly empty except for the Chutes. We drove around and parked above the Chutes to have lunch and catch the day's entertainment.
    There was this traffic jam:
    IMG_2524.jpg

At one of the narrowest points, a Jeep's rear tires were pinched between the boulders, which broke something in the rear end. It took two vehicles to pull him out.

This guy shows how to overcome the narrow section.

This guy took the one less traveled by:

but after a few tries, settled for the one more travelled by:

There were a few Toyotas there. Here's one:

Sunday June 14, my daughter and I travelled Daken to Rampart Range south to FS325 into Saylor Park, which is directly west of Palmer Lake. At about 9000 ft, up the hill, there is a nice stand of boulders where she can climb.

He seemed a pretty cool customer. He pulled out a smoke, evaluated the line, installed a smaller diameter steering wheel and took on the challenge. Needed a little bit more traction to climb the boulder. What is the advantage of a smaller diameter steering wheel? That is the first time I have seen someone do that.

Maybe he just has a quick release steering wheel, took it off for some reason and I happened to see him put it back on. :notsure:
