Basically just a large container of cottage cheese, regular container of cool whip and small box of Jello (usually orange, but switch it up depending on your fruit) and then a couple cans of drained fruit which I typically do pineapple and mandarin oranges and mix. I've also done it with a coconut pudding or cheesecake mix but I only use about 1/3 to 1/2 the powder otherwise it's just way too sweet.

 

We had a similar recipe growing up, but the jello was pistachio

Edit: with mini marshmallows. I believe my aunt called it Watergate Salad.
