So I just went to my local off-road parts store and was going to buy new upgraded leafs for my Tacoma El096r and they told me they are discontinued... so found out the new leafs will be different and even more beefy
So the new part number is going to be
    ArbEL112r

just got them and they look huge will give a play by play once I start on the r&r

What’s different with the new ones? Is your assessment of “huge” compared to the EL096R?

Can you take some pictures of the actual leafs? Including some closer pictures of the ends.

Manager said they were having problems with the El096r. But I don’t know for sure...
do you know have many springs the El096r have?

The shim (or whatever it's called) in between each leaf at the center looks thicker which will help keep the leafs separate, meaning less squeaks. And the clamps look tighter, closer down to the leaf so less fanning out. Curious on performance. They do look beefy.

The leave(leafs?) themselves pretty much look the same as the EL096R to me.

The EL096R squeaks like crazy even though they were supposed to be an improvement on the original. I hate them and I wouldn’t upgrade to the new version even if they did fix the issue.

Might I suggest Alcan :D Just put them on my 1st gen about a month ago after dealing with squeaky/clunky ass Dakars and AP Expos for years. So far they are completely silent even after a few dirty wheeling trips.

I always call them leafs because fuck it. I've had good luck with my dakars but I am always tearing them apart for other reasons and I clean them while I'm there. Looking forward to hearing peoples reviews on the new ones.

I think when you pay the premium for Alcans or Deavers some of the little things get handled. For $500 you get squeaks.

Overloads look much more curved than the 95/96R's maybe its just cus the main leafs are unloaded.

Looks like a better build n paint quality. No complaints here with my 95R's but i did take them completely apart, painted every leaf, put leaf liners in and greased up everything before putting back together n on the truck.

FYI EL111R is the new part number of the medium duty pack. Looks like @HeadStrong Off-Road has the new packs, maybe they can shed light on differences?

Very true. My Expos didn't squeak like the Dakars did, but man they clunked like crazy where the bushings were in the main eyes and I could never get that figured out. Replaced the poly bushings a few times, always lubed them up with the appropriate silicone PTFE grease (Daystar stuff).

Anyway I know with Dakars the squeaks usually come from between the leafs themselves, but often overlooked is the bushings which will squeak like mad too if they aren't lubed with the right stuff. That super thick/tacky Energy/Daystar grease works great to quiet down the bushings, assuming they're poly ones

@Red-baron_taco can you post some pics of it on your truck under load once you get them installed? I want to see if they still have that awful W look.

My 96r dont even have 400lb of constant weight and it sags like 1.5 inches
