I have a 30MM ammo can me and a friend set his up in for a while. Had it where we didn’t even have to take it apart to take it somewhere. Also being inside the ammo can it couldn't set anything on fire.

Mosquitos are close to non-existent.
Get a camp fire going and they'll stay away for sure.

Here's the thing:
This part of PA is very well drained. Streams flow rapidly.
There is little standing water anywhere that mosquitoes need to breed.

Mind you, I know how bad mosquitoes can be.

Story time.

When I hitch hiked across country in '73, my buddy and I camped off I-70 one evening after being dropped off.
This was just across the border from Terre Haute, IN, in Illinois.
The skeeters were unbelievable that night, and we were slathered in Army surplus bug juice.
That stuff was concentrated DEET and would melt plastic.
Ask me how I know...
Made no difference to those bastards.
I woke up with my nose and ears swelled up, even though I went to sleep with my head covered.

The only time I experienced anything close to that was when camping on Assateague Island, on the MD /VA border.

The critters here in PA (almost) certainly won't bother you.
Black Bears...nah, unless you somehow get between Mama Bear and her cubs.
The Timber Rattlers are pretty docile and will warn you. But you probably won't ever see one.
Copperheads...well, watch your step and wear boots, heavy socks and long pants.
If you do, it'll be no problem.
But you probably won't see one of those either...not right on the AT with all the people going to and fro.
