3rd Gen Magnetic Gray Thread

I see. Because of that you swapped the whole grille. I am seeing a few 2020 SR5 grilles pop-up online but with chrome trim.

 

Looks great. Well done.

 

Had a few colors in mind, but happy I went with the Magnetic Gray...

BEAUTIFUL!

 

It’s called mottling. The metallic flakes don’t sit uniform and float and group together at different depths in the paint. MGMs tend to have this more but every Tacoma save for white has it on the grille bezel (top part that runs above grille piece). I got out of my 2018 MGM DCOR after having it for about 4 weeks. Dealership and Toyota made it right and I got into a 2019 Barcelona Red. There is still mottling on it but not as bad. A robot isn’t going to go back over it to get it right unfortunately. The mottling tends to show up on the hard angles on our trucks. I almost got into a cement one. Look at the pics. Cement one shows the mottling on the grille bezel.

 

Month in and this is what my Taco looks like so far.

 

For those of you with black inserts/badges, did you go matte or gloss finish? Trying to decide which looks better on our trucks.

 

I prefer Matte or Satin to match the plastic trim. Just my opinion tho.

 

I did matte plastidip side badges and gloss tailgate letters. I definitely like the matte better. The gloss letters were a mistake on my part, I misread it when I ordered them

 

Matte here for tailgate letter inserts and the V6 badge, and the Tacoma badges on the sides. Grill is also a matte black.

 

Seems like I might be the minority here but I went with gloss on the 4x4 badge and black reflective tailgate stickers and I think it came out nice. The black reflective stickers are definitely hit or miss depending on the person as they POP white in the right sunlight or headlights.

 

Recent mods are :
Interior - MESO interior black out stuff w/red TRD button
Exterior - SCS BR6 in matte black 17x9 -38mm wheels . (Had dark matte bronze Ray10s in same size before)

Got out and rode the bike some this morning, I need to do it more. Found out how out of shape I am going up some hills.

 

Those BR6's look amazing on your truck. I just went with the Ray10's in gunmetal, but damn, your truck makes me question that. Great choice! I almost went with the BR6 in black and the blazing bronze lip.
