Awesome post. Yep, those are the ones I'm about to buy. That was last year, how have they been holding up with the canoe? I plan on abusing these rails with lots of after work fishing and long trips while towing a camper.

Also, why didnt you like the style that clamps in the doors?

 

Holding up great. The rubber inserts on the bars are rigid with this wavy pattern. Really cuts down on wind noise. Canoe doesn't slide a bit.

Couple reasons. 1. The bar spread was fixed as the mounting locations were predetermined/fixed. 2. Didn't want any rubbing and marring of paint.

 

So they can potentially damage the paint? That's what I was worried about when looking at them

 

I would think anything with pressure on the paint could potentially cause damage. And the ditch mount system holds more weight.

 

And no leaks at all.

I had a thule roof rack.. it was louder than shit but I needed the extension for my 16’ glider. Thats my .02 on those clampy door ones anyway.. and I had racks, I havent been shunned on here by the stockers, even after buying a not-Tacoma.. so you should be okay..

 

Dadgum, that truck is a thing of beauty. I tend to prefer only white or light color vehicles due to the brutal sun here in GA. But if I had to pick a dark color that would be it without any doubt. Add a chrome rear bumper and chrome front grill, and that would make it a premium retail+ priced truck.
