Ditch lights are supposed to be aimed at ditches anyway... Do you have them mounted forward like high-mounted driving lights instead?

My Caliraised side shooters aim toward the ditches nicely, but there are no covers (that I know of) available for them.

 

I have never had an issue in 4 years of running them.
Mine have always been pointed down and out though. Only person to comment on the legality of them was some older gentleman at a gas station.
His concern collapsed on itself, but I thanked him anyway.
If a cop pulls me over for not having a cover, I’ll cross that bridge when I get there.

I don’t plan on having them aimed dead straight but not directly to the side either, which. I mainly wanted them for very dark mountain roads, as I said before. I’ll avoid the 50 stretch to Tahoe so the forum doesn’t stone me

 

But they're ditch lights and that hood glare.
If you wanted something forward facing why not a light bar? You can mount it to your crash bar on stock bumpers (i.e., your truck) and hide it behind your lower valence.

I just like the way ditch lights look as well.

 

I've got a set of pods surrounding my winch that aim forward. I only run them on the trail, and I consider them to be driving lights. I do turn them off for oncoming trail-folk.

 

I like the way they look too, when aimed towards ditches that is.

I’ll end up running mine like yours, trail lights and maybe back mountain roads with no cars and whatnots. So they’ll be pointed a little more forward than actual ditch lights.

 

They’re side shooting, so I can have them a little more forward.

No, some cheap Chinese ones from ebay that were like $20 for 4. I sealed them up, and if they stop working, I have another set to replace them with!

 

Yep. Kind of makes sense for offroad lighting. lol

 

If a cop wants to pull you over he/she will find a reason. If it's not the lights it will be something else. They are not out there pulling over every vehicle with coverless LEDs or tires sticking out past fenders or any other of the plethora of minor infractions they have at their disposal. If they think something else might be going on they will definitely use those as a reason to.

And regarding the using the LEDs as aux lighting on highways, turn them off well before oncoming traffic and you will be fine. Been doing it for years and it is a great help on some of the highways around here.
