Thanks! Just what I needed. Do you have the discount code handy? Winter's coming and my OEM battery is almost 6 years old. Might be time to jump to the Northstar

Advance auto also does online ordering and discount codes. Usually RMN25 (retailmenot25%) is what I use. If you have "speedperks" coupons you can stack them on top of the discount when ordering too. Everyone should keep in mind that there are just a few battery manufacturers and they produce many things under different names. For example, Johnson Controls makes Walmart batteries, Optima, Interstate, etc. Don't quote me on it as I don't stay up to date on it. However, I can say that they were sold to a venture capitalist firm in 2018... meaning that things are about to get super shitty when profit is put ahead of quality or reputation. Hold on to your receipts! Haha.

It's on the Batteries+ website. A big splash that jumps out at you.

1 more thing. When you order online, it will charge you the core charge. When you take in your junk battery and pick up your new battery, you give them the same card you used, and they correct the total.

New guy and definitely not an electrical savvy person. 2019 Taco Pro. Just bought a X2 (Northstar) 27F AGM. Intend to run my Dometic CFX 35W on it. Gonna hard wire (10awg from battery) a voltmeter/outlet in the bed to plug the fridge into. Will have an in-line fuse.

Any concerns I should have about running my fridge while the truck is off? My “battery guy” buddy is convinced this is a terrible idea and I’ll be left stranded with a dead battery

The dometic will have a Low voltage Cutoff so it’ll leave you enough power to start the truck but I’d highly recommend investing in a quality jump starter from a reputable brand like noco just in case.

Like @MattCowsmasher mentioned, the battery protection on the CFX should be set to high or medium with a single battery set up given you'll have a direct wiring set up. Before going out to the woods, load the cooler like you plan to have on your trip, and experiment in your driveway where you can jump it if needed. The load coming from a CFX35 won't be a lot, but the type of battery you have, it's age, parasitic draw from other parts of your vehicle's system will all contribute. Trying it out and developing a "feel" for everything in your driveway will increase your confidence so you won't be surprised out on the trail.
