I don't have a automatic. Someone else would need to answer that.

The other side of the coin is that most folks with OVT get an MPG bump. For me, the 2mpg bump pays for it all in 5yrs of driving.

It’s pretty cheap when considering the money people spend on other mods (wheels, tires, bumpers, armor, RTT, etc)

Old avg 16.6, new avg as of this morning 18.2. Thats with me having fun and railing on it, in the hilly curvy parts. 72 cruise on the 65mph part, 82 cruise on the interstate part. I know I can get better. However I am and have been and will continue to run premium fuel so I ain't saving didley squat. Just getting more value out of what I am spending anyway.

If you operate the engine at a higher temperature, you get better thermodynamic efficiency that might show up in mpg, but there are tradeoffs in other areas. TANSTAAFL.

Wanted to just post one correction, you do not have to update your ECU with techstream. It's just recemmonded.

I agree, I also am a huge fan of Mr. Heinlein. There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.
I really was actually unhappy about the way the engine ran on regular octane. I believe detonation and retarding timing to prevent it is worse on a engine than running at a solid performance tune. I am using premium fuel, losing the energy but making up for it with a tune designed to take advantage of the ability to increase timing advance.
I believe Toyota made a trade off to satisfy the EPA that would provide me with a engine that detonated, and feels weak. So I fixed it the best way I could find available.
Time will tell me if I made a good decision or a bad one. If you knew me for a long time, you would know everyone I work with and most of the people I know, think I make good decisions, and ask me for advice. I know that sounds arrogant, and I don't mean it that way. I am just very helpful, and love to figure things out. Respectfuly, Steve.

Yes Thank you! I did my update to 4b13 since I heard from a reliable source on here that I would be happier. I don't think I could be any happier with your tune. It seems outstanding.

My cost was 769 dollars. Best value on a modification I have ever spent.
I am 47 and have had all kinds of different vehicles and motorcycles.

TSBs are free in the stated warranty period. The bigger issue is getting them to actually do it. ECU updates take 10 easy minutes. They typically bill at 0.4hrs on the WO.

They shouldn't, but some are jerks and just won't do it.

Thank you for the clear and concise write-up. I have tried to read the OV Tune main thread and there is just so much non-sense I lose interest.

Techstream has the ability to apply TSBs? Is it pulling them from a database you know can access or do you have to source them yourself? I assume the update process itself is fairly straightforward with the software and tactrix cable.

Also heard on the 5.29 mega thread that the 2.0 auto tune fixed CC/ACC and I think it has that cool gear lock feature via the ECT button. It's enough to make a man drool.
