Truck Issue

Hi

Went to do some off roading yesterday with my Tacoma.

 

Totaled. I’ll take the headlights and drivers seat.

 

If the engine is running, but the trucks not moving no matter what gear you put it in, chances are you cooked the clutch. Either all the clutch material flew off (ive had this happen just while normal driving on a older car) or your pressure plate is is not applying pressure to the clutch so it just spins.

When you take it to the dealer, do not say you offroaded it, just say you were driving from a stop light.

Either way its going to be a gamble if warranty will cover it.

Maybe the clutch burned out or the clutch slave wasn't engaging. Good luck at the dealer. Hope they can replicate it and considering it's a wear and tear item, most likely will not be covered.

 

I think the video shows you burning the clutch as you pass by the camera with smoke (didnt look like dust) coming from the bottom.

also as you were starting it sounded like alot of engine revs for no truck movement

 

Didn’t watch video. Barely read anything. The clutch fork could have snapped. That’s happened to me before.

Regardless of what you tell Toyota, they can determine of the clutch was smoked. They will not cover it. Hopefully, that is not the case.

 

Were you burning the clutch this whole time? Because it sounded like it and i think i saw smoke coming from underneath.

Please tell me you were in 4low.

Did you check the battery? Maybe pull the negative terminal for a few minutes and then try starting it.

 

Could you smell anything? When you smoke a clutch you know by the smell

 

Well, thats why. Should have been in 4 low , He probably smoked the clutch.

No way i would attempt that climb in 4hi haha

 

Even with 4.88, 4Hi still crazy easy to smoke clutch in these.....4Lo is the thing.

If need to replace clutch go HD

 

Wait really? That's a really easy climb, 4HI should have no problem with it in 1st gear especially if you take the right line and don't point at the large rocks on purpose.

 

I probably smoked clutch then because there was a smell and it was indeed 4hi

 

Probably did. Don’t be down on yourself we all have messed shit up. Just learn from it. It can be fixed.
