Anything welding

Now that's a shop, hell yeah. One day I want a detached shop that looks like that. 2 post lift, plenty of room.

 

Time for the dreaded rivets. But I’ve got them down to about 35 minutes to a side.

 

What method do you use? With an air hammer and a ball joint press I can get them in about 20.

edit: actually that's just guessing. I should pay attention next time and see.

 

I run a Viking die grinder with a real three key chuck an take the heads of hit with a hammer to knock the hanger off. Then plasma torch from there with a drag tip. Any imperfections in the hole I correct real quick with a burr bit.

I tried something different this time took a 3” aircat cut the middle of the river and air hammer popped it right off. Do yo have a pic of how you used press.

 

Either my eyes are playing tricks on me or that's a door modification I've never seen before.

It’s right at the 10 min mark, but I use it on the bottom ones to press them right out once I grind the heads off.

Yep, these are half doors I built out of an extra set. They’re not quite done yet, still need to finish up the interior panel.

Finally got it all assembled. DOM was $5 a foot ($124 for the stick) so I’m not gonna bend something just to bend something. Going to do its first bend next week when I start on the front bumper.

 

Dude... seeing the side view of your truck... you really need some Dana 60’s and 40” meats!

You might want to extend that rear leg on the stand (under the ram). It really depends on how you feed the tube through the bender but I always feed from the ram side. Having the bulk of the tube hanging out the back, the whole thing might want to tip over backwards.

this is probably more relevant when building long pieces like sliders where you need the have 8’ on either side of the die but something to look out for

 

That thought crossed my mind. I’m going to rotate it and get it so there’s the least amount of weight there that I can get it. Or just support the long pieces of tube on one of those adjustable height roller carpenter things.
