I'm no fan of drilling holes on my vehicles, I don't care of the extra 6"...

I thought the same thing when i got my taco.... and the auto locking tailgate... I've sourced aftermarket solutions, but it would have been nice to have from the get

I’ll buy the ones made in the USA . Not buying anything more from China if I can avoid it.

Something I noted about the Sokie Tech struts. The upper section is actually of two different lengths. When installed the shorter one limits the upward movement of the hood. But disconnect the shorter one and the longer one allows the hood to be opened much higher. And the one strut is plenty enough to hold the hood.

I kind of eye balled the parts and identified these parts:
You will still need to order the rivets themselves but the shopping cart price with tax is $67.74. I'm too chicken to pull the trigger though. Does anyone want to take the plunge?

I should mention that the struts appear to be compatible with the 4Runner and the Hilux so I'm guessing there would be some commonality that make it work with the Tacoma as well. But this is merely a guess.

Got my redline ones from Amazon for like $105. No issues so far and sooo much better than the manual rod
