Man I've searched for more power for the 2.7 & there just seems to be nothing "reasonable" available. At first, the 3 instead of D didn't seem like a good idea. The 2700 @ 60 mph. just seemed like too many rpm. but after a couple of months driving in 3, you see the little 2.7 is much happier just easing along in 3 at 2700 rpm than straining just to keep going in D at 1800 rpm., absolutely no torque at that low rpm. I'd love to re-gear to a 4.56 or 4.88 gear, to try to get to appx. 2300 rpm @ 60 mph. in D. But re-gearing a 4X4 costs a little too much. I'm pretty dang satisfied now just driving in 3 & I don't even notice the 2700 rpm anymore, it's just how it likes to run.

I agree to what you guys say. I have the 4 speed transmission and I do love my truck no regrets there.
I will checkout the 5th gear option else will stick to altering my driving style.
    thanks for the inputs

I checked some reviews for the Pedal Commander and hope its not a placebo effect, would give it a try soon. Else I might stick to alternate options suggested by the guys above coz I agree spending on mods would cost me as much as a 6cyl.
    thanks for your suggestions

This. Do not be afraid to rev that little thing. It will do it, and it will do it happily for 300,000 miles.
