Hey guys. New owner of a 2020 OR Tacoma and was wondering what this bar is called or if anyone knows a part number for it. I scraped/ slightly dented it going offroad and have been having trouble identifying what it is or if I should be worried. Was thinking to just coat it in some por15 at some point, but I don’t know if I should be more concerned. Thanks :)

Thanks! Now only if I knew what it actually is / is called. Seems like a sort of protection bar , just wanted to make sure it’s not functional in stabilizing the frame or something like that and would affect future use or wear.

Did you puncture a hole in the bar? Is there a matching bar on the left side as well?

    Also, welcome to TW!

No, that hole was already there, but I probably disfigured it a bit. And yes there’s an identical bar on the other side.

That bar is unnecessary to any frame stabilization or anything like that. I'm fairly certain it's for catalytic convertor protection. Most, if not all, skid plate installations require removing them and throwing them in the trash. I wouldn't worry about it in the slightest. Just touch up with paint if you're concerned.

Yep, like @EatSleepTacos said, those bars are simply for CAT Converter protection. They don't function for anything other than that and come off as soon as you install a trans skid. I have 2 extras sitting in my garage if you want them haha. But they are also scratched up....

Mine has a Nick on it. Outta curiosity I went out and looked at it.

7F9751DC-C526-4B44-A5BD-F01850A075DF.jpgHmmmm, after looking at the photo, it might just be dirty. I am going to have to try a little harder I guess.
