I'm experiencing a rough idle at colder temps. Happens at temps 5 degrees and below. I've searched the web and cannot find anyone talking about the same issue. Anyone having this same issue?

Don't really hear anything from the video. I see the tach holding pretty steady at about 1000. Do you have your defroster on? When the AC kicks in, I've noticed mine kicking up the rpms a little.

Tach bounces from 500-1000 roughly every half second. Reving up and down up and down.

AC on just heat on low. Does it even if the heat/ fan is off.

I am having the exact same issue at those temps and below. Just had the issue pulling out of a warmer garage going to the cold temps. Moved from Park to Drive and it went into a faster modulated idle. Hope someone has some input from the dealership/shop on this issue.

Update: Took my Tacoma to the dealership. They spent a day looking at it and diagnosed it as a bad throttle body. Is that the problem? I can't say for certain but I'll post an update on whether that fixes the issue of not.

My 2019 idles at what seems to be a high rpm while in park. When I put it in reverse or drive the rpm drops. This causes a surge when you put it in gear. I must keep my foot firmly on the brake when putting it in gear. Does anyone else notice this with their Tacoma?

Any updates? My 2019 has surged a couple times after I've put it into drive and I fear it's an accident waiting to happen. I took it to my local shop and they tell me the surge is 'normal' and cannot address the rpm spike that happens occasionally when I first start driving and forces me to slam on my brakes. This is not normal.

Are u bumping the steering wheel left or right at all? A little bump in the wheel bumps the rpms up

Sometimes it happens while I'm turning the vehicle (pulling out of a parking spot or driveway) but its also happened when I've pull up to a stop and I'm facing straight ahead. The RPMs bounce back and forth from approx. 700 to 1200rpm for a minute or so and then return to normal.

I have a 2019 SR5 and it is doing it so bad if your not holding the brake, like this morning would have backed into the house, the other day would have gone out into traffic, Dealer says this is normal for a tacoma..really, mine seems to be reving from 800 to 1200 on the tach. I called toyota canada today and they suggested i go to another dealer for another opinion at my cost lol on a truck with 20000 kms with an extended warranty

Looks like the engine has been warmed up for a bit because you are not all the way to the left on the temp gauge.
What does it do when first starting, and when warmed up to normal op temp ?

that one is not mine I am going to get a vid of mine as well I would say mine is cold when it does for most part but not always, the time it tried to push me into traffic should have been at normal temp. I have a friend with a 18 doing the same thing, blows me away toyota says this is normal

I have the same thing happening 3.5 by tacoma silver trd. Now I know the battery was disconnected for service so I wonder if it need to do a relearn. Possibly this is normal operation due to no mil light?

Anyone else have this happening even when it’s not cold? My truck was doing it today. Anyone get a more solid answer on why this is happening?
