    Hey All,

Had someone run into my back bumper a couple weeks back, damage isn't terrible but I got some money to replace it. I'd like to do the project on my own and not send it to a shop...cheaper for me and probably not too difficult? Any advice on a the difficulty of the project itself or links to good bumpers to invest in? I'd love to get a matte black grill (replace that) and a black bumper...spruce her up a bit because she's all stock right now.

    Thank for any advice!
    Jackie

    Welcome to TW!

I recommend trying to get OEM Toyota bumper parts if you can swing it, but I like the OEM look & quality. Installation shouldn't be difficult. Check to see if they bent the arms that hold the bumper to the frame. I was backed into once, and those had to be replaced. I didn't notice it, but the body shop pointed it out that one side (that got hit) of the bumper was closer to the body than the other. Should be a straight bolt on job. If you have covered bumpers, probably best to have those professionally painted. If you have steel bumpers, it's a quick unbolt the old, and bolt on the new.

    Good luck!

Welcome to TW! If you plan on offroading this is the perfect opportunity to just use that money toward a steel aftermarket bumper.

If you can use to jacks, raise the bumper both sides at the same time to be sure it's straight. As is was suggested make sure the brackets are not bent, it would be difficult if one is. Still might need a dead blow hammer to help get it between brackets. Use drift pins to line holes, sometimes you can drill out the holes a size bigger than they come and it helps. Welcome to the forum and good luck.
