Was the Bed Outlet on the 2nd gen tacoma an add on? or only TRD trims had this?

Oh okay. I'm very confused, How can I tell if my Tacoma is a TRD trim? And which one? Sorry I'm a newbie, I just bought a 2014 Prerunner V6 Used, it has the SR5 and Prerunner Badges on the tailgate, it has the bed outlet, locking rear diff. And it used to have the TRD sticker on the driver side because I can barely see the outline of it, they removed it. Any ideas?

Easiest way to tell for me is if the front passenger seat doesn't fold flat down, then you have a TRD model, whether it be a sport (will usually have a hood scoop), or if you have a rear lock button in the dash (then you have an Off Road)

To be fair, the VIN search doesn't always accurately reflect your vehicle's specs. My VIN pops as a base model, but it is most definitely a Sport.

As far as I know, all Tacoma are base model.
Every other model, is a derivative of the base.
As in “package(s)” add to the base.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong?

Correct, as far as I know. The Toyota VIN lookup for my 2015 TRD OR shows the truck as a base model with the TRD Off-Road package.

You have a prerunner TRD off-road. Off-roads came with the rear locker, sports came with hood scoops and the pre 2009 models had a mechanical lsd

Copy. Thank you! I'll check the VIN and double check but looks like alot of things are pointing to it being a TRD Off Road. Don't know why the first owner removed the TRD stickers. Thnx again.

If it’s like mine. The sticker gets “dirty” around and under the edges.
I’ve debated on pulling mine off. But I don’t fell like fooling with that all day.

Ahh I see. I can see that happening and the reason to why they removed it.
